the history

of our cars

CONTRAST NEO 1 The Neo 1 was the first commercial Contrast in history. It was launched in October 2004 having already won the Spanish Championship in its prototype phase. It marked a new way of designing large scale cars and it was the pioneer of the new era of modern cars. It reduced the regular weight of the category in almost two kilos with its 9,6 kilos opposite the 11,5 kilos of other models. It innovated thanks to its system of mobile ballasts, with its system of fixation of the wishbones axles, with its servo saver or with the assembly of the wishbones over the rear mounts, concepts that have been copied several times even in the most brand new cars. Being our first car there were also some details to improve that made us evolve towards the Neo 2.
CONTRAST NEO 2 In 2006 we launched the Neo 2, the very evolved version of the Neo 1 with:
• New aesthetic of chassis and subchassis in anodized mate black.
• New design of the front suspension
• Front wishbones and reinforced uprights rod arms
• New front and rear shock absorbers.
• Adjustable clutch with a new anti-friction technical coating.
• Autoblock differential, anti-slip system.
• Dog bones with ball-joint transmission
• New lower rear wishbones
• New rear support of the bodywork made in Delrin
With these novelties the Neo 2 solved the youth problems of the Neo 1 and started a non-stop evolution path until nowadays.
CONTRAST NEO 2,5 HR With the help of our star driver in those years Hessel Roskam (HR) we defined for 2008 the car that has been the true base of the last Neox cars. The Neo 2.5HR presented a renovation of the 80% of the pieces of the Neo 2. The anti-roll bars and the transmission were renovated, a new geometry of suspensions and new Ackerman angles were used for the first time. With this car a new path that would evolve towards the present models of Neox was opened.
CONTRAST NEO 2.5 ´09 Once improved and reinforced the basic systems of the car with the 2008 model, in 2009 we looked for new services, faster speed, more adjustments and bigger ease of driving. The chassis got its turn, as well as the distance between axles and the gravity centre. The chassis of the Neo 2,5-09 showed two possible adjustments of distance between axles at 535mm and 527 mm, besides the areas where the main mounts were leaned were lowered 2 mm obtaining thus a reduction of 2mm of the gravity centre of the car, which represents a giant improvement in the car’s performance.
The novelties regarding the Neo 2,5HR were
• New 6mm thickness chasses instead of 5mm
• Milled chassis-2mm in the sockets of the main supports.
• Two distances between adjustable axles 535 y 527 mm
• Anodized red colour in chassis and subchassis
• New steering support with two positions
CONTRAST NEOX The NeoX or Neo 10 appeared in 2010. A year later the evolution was unstoppable and truly hit on the result. The Neox has marked an style with its side carbon guards, its fibre brakes with a bomb of 10mm, its new style with curved pieces, its double steering servo or its differential hybrid with a carbon cover. All in this car is bursting passion for details and races.
CONTRAST NEOX GS WC Limited ed. With some retouches in the front axle in the prototype phase, the Neox of 2010 arrived to the World Championship of 2001 and won in hands of Guillaume Solon. To celebrate it we launched the Neox GS WC Limited Edition, a car that joined together the advances tested in the Championship with a decoration in black and orange (the favourite one of Guillaume Solon, hence the initials GS) and the helmet labelled. Only 50 units of this car were manufactured.
The novelties regarding the Neox were:
• New front mounts with three possible turning points for the upper wishbone.
• New front uprights
• New position of the front shock absorbers with a new carbon upper shock support.
CONTRAST NEOX GS silver 2013 In 2013 we stood up for our title of World Champions and we only did two new advances, yet very important: a new chassis milled at -3mm so that the gravity centre of the car reduces 1mm regarding the 2012 car, which means a great improvement in the stability, specially at high speed, as well as a better traction. The second improvement is the possibility of assembling the pipe on the left or on the right side of the car according to the sense of the track, a new innovation exclusive by Contrast. CONTRAST FUEGO 2007 Our first large scale TT car. This chassis was the base on which we initiated a quick evolution than made us European champions in TT in 2010. It shared several pieces with its asphalt brother, 5mm short chassis, inclined engine, hydraulic brakes in the front axle and it stood out because of its stability in jumps and its agility in infield of tracks.
CONTRAST FUEGO 2008 After the base of the 2007 car which gave us our first contact with land, the new Fuego 2008 meant a great advance both in features and resistance. It inherited some of the evolutions applied to the asphalt car, such as the new uprights with bigger ball bearings, or the new front main supports. We added also a more flexible chassis and increased the distance between axles obtaining thus more stability and traction. The novelties regarding previous models are:
· New chassis of 4mm with longer wheelbase
· New longer radioplate
· New front main supports
· New front and rear uprights with bigger wheel bearings
· New wishbones
· New transmision gears made on cement steel
· New Differential case with better refrigeration
CONTRAST FUEGO 2009 The Fuego 2009 went along the evolutions searching for bigger resistance in all areas, raising a bit the gravity centre in order to increase the balancing and charge more weight in the rear axle. These are the improvements applied:
• New shock absorbers big bore and long run with:
- 5 mm axle
- Aluminium rod end
- Slip seals instead O-rings
- Cap and foam instead rubber diaphragm
- Piston with O-ring and 5 holes x 1,6mm
- Optional piston without holes to drill other configurations
• New and higher shock mounts
• New front lower wishbones reinforced with new positions to fix the shocks
• New rear differential mount with new position of the wishbone axle.
• New rear uprights with new position of the wishbone joint point
• New supplement part to add at lower rear wishbone with additional holes for shock absorbers.
• New and heavy wing support in aluminium
• New bumper red with best quality and material
• New black fibre brake disks with new composites
• New look and colours
CONTRAST FUEGO TT10 The Fuego TT10 had a new name because, more than an evolution, was almost a new car. The new tyres without offset that appeared in market allowed us to design new longer wishbones increasing the suspensions walk and grip in general. This car showed its improvements by becoming European Champion in Austria, in hands of our official driver Ian Oddie.
Novelties it showed:
• New longer wishbones
• Improvements in the shock absorbers’ quality
• New radioplate with two steering servos
CONTRAST FUEGO TT11 In order to celebrate the title of champions, we added to the 2011 car the new pipe “Oddie ‘Style”, designed by Ian Oddie which, apart from improving the engine’s response with a very plain curve, charges more weight at the rear axle improving thus the grip and traction.
CONTRAST FUEGO TT12 The climax of the Fuego’s evolution is the TT12. We have applied on it all the solutions our official drivers asked as well as solving the last weak pints of the Fuego saga. The TT12 is an indestructible tank, agile, fast, which hasn’t lost a bit of the great flight capacity that defines all the cars of the Fuego series.
Novelties applied regarding the Fuego 11:
• New Langer chassis with a distance between axles of 545 mm
• Variable position of the fuel tank
• New front uprights and new front upright arms
• New shock absorbers with a 6mm axle, new guides and silicone o-rings
