CONTRAST & GUILLAUME SOLON, WORLD CHAMPIONS 2011

It didn’t happen in a remote country with just a few good drivers; it did happen in France, with all the best world drivers taking part, all the brands and their official teams doing their best every time they ran, because they knew half world was looking at them through Internet. In those conditions one team has stood out as the best one, as the smoother and faster driver, as the car that wears down the tyres less and with the best gravity centre, as the most powerful and reliable engine.

The combination Solon-Contrast-Abbate is the World Champion 2011.

Guillaume Solon started to excel from the very first free trainings. Despite not being the fastest one at three laps, that is what defined the classification in the trainings, in the last classificatory head he was the fastest in the ten minutes global calculation, which meant an alert sign for the classificatory heads.

Guillaume was very close to the pole position at the classificatory heads, having to cut short his best head because of a blow with a backed up car. Even so, he finished in a provisional second position.

After some not too problematic semi-finals, we reached the final, starting from the starting grid with the number 6 since, in the last minutes of the semi-final, we drove very slowly reserving fuel and maintaining the position. Our car was ready at a specific hour, we used an aggressive adjustment so that it kept being fast as the tyres became wore down when the grip got reduced. In fact, in some of the first laps Guillaume made the public enjoy by putting the car on two wheels, resulting from this initial agility. As the laps are done the car got balanced, keeping a great rhythm per lap while the other cars became slow and had problems to run due to the wear down of the front tyres first, and the rear ones alter that.

After the victory, and having the cars on the verification table , it could be seen that while the Solon’s Contrast Neox still had a lot of rear tyre left and nearly the whole front one, the other models had consumed the tyres, some of them even showing the wheels canvas.

Final victory of the most competitive team in the week and the best combination of the world. These are the final numbers:
