Introduction
Hi everyone:
I’m proud to introduce you to CONTRAST, my last adventure in the automodel… at the moment.
I started with this fantastic hobby/sport in 1990 thanks to a Kyosho motorbike, Through the years I quickly went through the 1/10 TT and the 1/8 TT till I was caught up in the magic of the Large Scale cars, thanks to a ¼ scale Yankee in 1994. By that time I had already spent more time in the workshop thinking about how to improve the car and my technical studies, instead of trying to improve my driving, which was what I really needed.
In spite of not liking the 1/5 the first time I saw it, I finally started in that modality with a Laro.

In those moments and thanks to my first modest sport successes, I began getting into the funniest but most difficult kind of automodel. With the 1/5 I started a very important phase in which I was fully trained as a driver, and I learnt through thick and thin the tricks and techniques of this particular kind of modelling, and I discovered some secrets that have helped me to create the most modern and competitive car of the actual 1/5 scale.
I also worked as a journalist for the fantastic Spanish magazine RC Model, I’m one of the authors of the enciclopedic in instalments “RADIOCONTROL”, published in numerous countries and I managed to take a dream true which almost bordered on madness: the Lloret de Mar Rallycontrol, the best race of the world, holded in the middle of Lloret seafront and within Rally Catalunya (World Rally Championship).

I’ve driven, studied and dissembled cars of all 1:5 brands. I’ve got angry when I discovered how bad designed and built some of the cars I’d bought doing a big economic effort were, and as almost very single driver, I promised myself one day I would build my own car. I have been able to carry it out.

CONTRAST NEO IS BORN
I started the first Contrast Neo design in April 2003, without knowing very well what I was going to do, but having very clear in mind what I was NOT going to do. I wanted to avoid the numerous mistakes, defects and problems I found through all my life as a driver in other branch’s cars I’ve driven. I wanted a very light car, rigid and resistant where I could experiment with weight, where weight was underneath, a car which wouldn’t lose traction, and which could use tyres softer than the rest of the rivals….and overall, a car which were simple.
In June 2003 I presented in public the Contrast Neo’s first general designs, and during the rest of the year I spent my time detailing and redesigning one thousand times all the pieces of the car. I was sat down in front of the computer from summer to Christmas, studying books, doing calculations, making mistakes and getting right…until at the beginning of February 2004, two weeks before the first Spain Championship’s race in Seville, I put on the track the first prototype of Contrast Neo.

A month  before, just only seeing the planes and with the car not yet built, Fede Porta and his son Fede Porta jr – one of the best drivers in the World- confirmed to me they joined this project as an official team came what may. Things like this don’t usually happen, so I willl be always grateful to them. This branch wouldn’t be what it is without their contribution, their sensibility and their wisdom.

I introduce you to Contrast, a branch made with affection by drivers who know what we want from a car and we know how to get it.
See you in the track.
